Geovision Avi Player

A common issue when trying to playback GeoVision .avi files via windows media player on a computer not running the GeoVision console is it does not play. If this is the case you will need to download and install the proper codecs.
Hello, again, everyone! I'm probably the least active person on this whole site, so forgive me/correct me if I commit any cardinal sins in this post.I have some audio files (.wav) and video files (.avi) that REFUSE to work on almost any program. They were copied from my old surveillance system at my shop. An incident occurred and I want to be able to put these files together into a single, cohesive viewing experience. The problem is, I can't get Adobe Premiere to read them, or DaVinci Resolve, HandBrake, or even VLC player. I even downloaded the GeoVision Backup Viewer software that I was able to use to view them on another computer (where they were recorded) but I can not for the LIFE of me get these files into a format I can play, edit and splice together. The ONLY thing that works is that I can play the video files on Windows Media Player, of all things, but without sound, it doesn't do me much good. The files aren't exactly sensitive, so sharing them with someone who would like to test them isn't a problem. I've attached one of the videos and one of the audio tracks if anyone would like to play around with it and see if they can get anything to work. I just need to be able to convert the files (several dozen in all) so I can edit them together. Thank you to ANYBODY who reads this! Have an awesome day!
But lucky me I've got too many processor cores and too much ram and too much free time so I booted up the Windows 10 throwaway VM I keep for just these kinds of things. So I managed to install the codec from here and I did get it to play but like you only in Windows Media Player. -codecs.com/download/geovision_cctv_mpeg4_codec.htm
Outdated and jank isn't a problem. I can sync the video to the audio myself. That shouldn't be an issue. But if the player can even view the video, and the file isn't encrypted, there should be a way to just change it to a format that can be thrown into Premiere, right? I feel like it's really weird that a camera from 2020 can record a video in 2020, and I can get the files from that camera, there's not a program I can just toss the files into and get them to work. The files are no longer on the original camera systems because this is from October, so using their options to "export as ___" isn't something I can do. I HAVE their software, too. I can't even find out how to get THEIR program to access/play the files, whether merged or not.
Anyway, try here too maybe: -geovision/ It doesn't look super active but besides the official GV forums it's probably the 2nd best place. Reddit isn't all terrible I hear, so long as you stay in your lane and only do the thing you went there to do.

Play AVI file on another media player: Try a different media player, other than the one you're using to play AVI videos. Some AVI supporting media players are VLC Player, Windows Media Player, Apple Quicktime, and Winamp.
VLC is an open source media player that has a built-in video repair feature to fix file index related corruption in AVI videos. If AVI video is stuttering or freezes, it indicates corruption in the file index. You can try the below steps to repair AVI files in VLC: 2b1af7f3a8
