Hellenistic Philosophy offers a way to understand ancient philosophy as a coherent field of knowledge with a complex genealogy. While it is not to be taken as a “successor” to the philosophical thought of Plato and Aristotle, it became a major intellectual force in the Hellenistic period. Rebellion and transcendence, the becoming of the City, and the relationship between humans and the gods are some of the themes of Hellenistic philosophy.
