In another legend, it was said to be created by a Malay warrior named Umar, while fighting in a battle with a group of Chinese bandits. He was defeated, and had to flee from the scene of battle. According to that version of the legend, the weapon was hidden by a riverbank and remained undiscovered for more than 3000 years. It was finally discovered by a Chinese pirate named Kunlun. Xiao Chen, a swordsman who was later hired by the ruler of the Han dynasty to defend his country, then pushed a merchant boat carrying the sword into a nearby river and retrieved it. Legend had it that Xiao Chen was so handsome that women would fall in love with him, so he was also known as Prince Li.
