Taiwan dubs some foreign films and TV series in Mandarin Chinese. Until the mid-1990s, the major national terrestrial channels both dubbed and subtitled all foreign programs and films and, for some popular programs, the original voices were offered in second audio program. Gradually, however, both terrestrial and cable channels stopped dubbing for prime time U.S. shows and films, while subtitling continued.
It also seems to be the common theme in "globalization" which in the past was always monolingual in Europe, America, Asia and Australia, that other cultures are setting about doing the same things that they have done. Arguably, the best example of this that everybody knows is possibly the English speaking countries, with the world becoming more and more monolingual, they are setting up their own universities, getting their own press etc, presumably wanting to emulate the way the Anglo Saxons or whatever their former ancestors spoke.
It's not actually known who the real father of modern English was, so many people say one of the more common myths is that the Anglo Saxons conquered England and brought them their own language. But in fact they would have always spoke English anyway. At least one of the Anglo Saxons, the one who settled in what is present day north wales called "Cymru" is still believed to speak Welsh today. d2c66b5586
